Staff & Departmental Mail Services

As many departments and staff continue to work off campus and many buildings have restrictive access to the public, GW’s Mail and Package Services (MPS) would like to ensure you and your staff receive mail and packages. Please help us by cascading this information with any members of your team(s) that may need this information.

Foggy Bottom Campus:

Mail Delivery

If your office will be open this semester with a modified schedule (not open every day of the week or different times) please contact GW Mail Services at [email protected] to set up the days/times for your department to receive mail deliveries.

If your office will be closed this semester and no one present to receive mail and packages during the fall semester, department heads should inform GW Mail Services at [email protected] to ask for your mail to be held at a MPS location until it can be retrieved by a staff member.

*Note that mail cannot be forwarded from the 20052 Zip code.

Package Deliveries from Outside Carriers:

During the fall semester most GW buildings will be inaccessible at public entrances for Carriers (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.). Department heads should inform GW Mail Services at [email protected] to ask for your package(s) to be held at a MPS location until it can be retrieved by a staff member or request for delivery when someone is available at the office.

While we kindly ask that staff do not have personal items delivered to campus, we know there are official packages which need to be shipped to campus and below are steps to ensure they arrive if your building does not have centralized receiving (such as Ross Hall, SEH and Gelman Library):

1) Department heads should notify MPS ([email protected]) to provide the department name and names of staff authorized for departmental pick-ups or to schedule deliveries to the department building.

2) Packages should be addressed as follows:

The George Washington University
Mail Services L101
YOUR DEPARTMENT - Attn: POC (as shown on GWorld card)
2025 F St., NW
Washington, DC 20052

Deviation from this format may cause delivery delays or items returned to the sender.

3) Notification will be sent when packages are ready for pick-up at a MPS location. With the possibility of a large volume of departmental packages not being able to be delivered to GW buildings this semester GW Mail Services has obtained an additional location to inventory department packages until arrangements are made for pickup or delivery. Once you receive notification that there is a package received for your department you may pick up the package at:

Mark Shenkman Hall (Restaurant Side/G & 23rd St. Entrance)
616 23rd Street, NW Lower Level
Food Court Area (formerly Gallery Café)
Washington, DC 20052

Upon request we will have limited vehicle delivery capabilities available for package delivery to your office.

  • If an item is too large/heavy to carry or transport from a MPS location, work with the delivery agent to have it delivered to your building when an approved on-campus individual can receive it at your office.
